Ethan Wallace, Nathan Butt, Bayley Hamlin and Alf Hunt make up Powershot, a rock band that appeared at the Dargaville Club last week.
“They were absolutely great for the gig which involved several local bands and artists,” said music teacher, and mentor, guitarist, Dave Salter. “It was a great warm-up for the Whangarei contest.”
Lead guitar for the youthful rockers, 12-year-old Alf Hunt, says the Dargaville experience was “really cool. There was lots of enery going on and we had great sound and lighting engineers.
“We have been playing together now for more than a year and we are looking forward to more gigs, and the Rock Quest.”
Dave Salter says the teens have great potential. “They are diligent musicians and great personalities, who can carve out a career in music should they choose to do so.”
Powershot is a product of Dave’s music teaching enterprise, the Raupo School of Rock. He is the founder of Joe Public, a well-known Kaipara group “which may get together again.”
