Des Subritsky refutes media reports on Hone Harawira’s speech

Allegations that controversial MP, Hone Harawira, at a Dargaville meeting, advised people opposed to the Crest turbine project they should drop chains and anchors into the harbour to protest, have been refuted by honorary Kaipara Harbour master, Des Subritsky.

“I was at the meeting and he did not say that at all. There is no way he suggested such actions, or that he would condone them.

The meeting was taped and that tape has been checked. He said this was something people might talk about. But there was no suggestion he would
support it.”

Mr Subritsky says he has emailed the MP’s party leader, Tariana Turia, saying media reports of Mr Harawira’s comments at the meeting were incorrect.
