New model scores an A grade with farmers

Valtra tractors are stepping up to a new level of power and performance this year with their new A series making waves in the rural industry.

The new range promises to bring cutting edge technology to the 65–100 horsepower sector of the market, and despite their small overall size the A83 and A93 are packed with both power and features.

Chief among these is an industry leading clutchless transmission system — a ‘powershift’ which seamlessly delivers torque as it’s needed without the use of traditional transmission components. That means ease of use, as well as less parts to wear out over years of hard farm use… a win–win situation.

Agco Valtra specialist Greg Keenan says this isn’t the only feature which is new to the A series — discerning farmers will find all manner of small design tweaks throughout, putting the smaller A in line with the more powerful Valtra N and T series. Versatility is the key, allowing the A series to fulfil moreroles around the farm, connect with more machinery, and thus increase the owner’s bottom line.

An example of this innovative thinking is the automatic handbrake system fitted to the A series. When the tractor is in park, the handbrake is engaged every time — making the A series safer to use and safer to service.

“Almost everyone has driven their tractor with the handbrake on by mistake, causing it to burn out,” says Mr Keenan. “Making it operate automatically is a great service feature, and it simplifies using the A series day to day.” The PTO lever has been replaced for similar reasons, and now takes the form of a button on the tractor’s main console.

Valtra have already experienced great success and demand for the new A series across Europe, a challenging environment where the new tractor excels. Leading UK farming magazine Farmer’s Weekly has described the A series as “a tractor that packs a lot of features and systems into its diminutive frame”.

Now the new Valtra is here in New Zealand, and is available to view at Northland Machinery. Stop by to talk to their friendly machinery professionals about how the A series can help you on your farm.
