The Dargaville Badminton club meets every Thursday morning, 10am in the Dargaville town hall and they are looking for new players.

“For many years women and lately also men have kept Thursday mornings free and have enjoyed two hours of camaraderie and fun playing badminton,” said player Lynley Clements.

“Sad as it would be, we can see that if numbers don’t increase in the future, closure would have to be contemplated.”

She says that the games are open to all ages. “The emphasis is on fitness and enjoying the feeling of having a good workout, but there is also an element of competitiveness and honing of skills. In saying this, skill level is not important when joining as there is a great team spirit among members who are always ready to help.”

Young parents can bring their children as there is a large area for them to play. The club also has spare rackets available.

“So if there are any readers who would like to give it a go, just drop in on Thursday mornings, side entrance of town hall or contact us.”
