Paparoa Primary School’s 10th annual Possum Purge went off with a bang last week with approximately 800 possums being eradicated from the environment over four days. The fundraiser was followed by a gala day and a prize-giving on Sunday, along with kapa haka performances.
Principal, Simon Schuster, even got into the spirit of things by plucking his very first possum. “The weather was perfect, and we had a huge turnout with great support from the wider community,” Mr Schuster said. “A huge thanks goes to the Possum Purge committee for all the hours they put into organising this and thanks also to the huge plethora of sponsors from the community. It was great to see such a variety of food outlets and attractions at the gala and another thanks to our hardworking parents and the Parent Teacher Association for running the events.”
