The Matakohe Bridges realignment of SH12 crosses the existing state highway in two places and diversions will be in place during January and February 2019..
From January 7 a 100m diversion will be installed north of Anderson Bridge. The diversion road is suitable for all vehicles and traffic management will be in place with a reduced speed limit.
The diversion will allow the construction crew to cut into the existing state highway to form the new road alignment. This diversion is expected to remain in place until the end of February.
From January 14 all vehicles will be diverted onto Matakohe East Road from south of Anderson Bridge, through Matakohe, past Matakohe School and back onto to SH12.
The 5km diversion will allow the construction crew to form the new intersection into Matakohe and tie in the western end of the new alignment into the existing state highway.
This diversion is expected to remain in place until mid-February.
When the diversion ends, vehicles will run along a section of the new alignment. The diversion passes Matakohe School and the children in the area will not be used to a high volume of traffic on this road without footpaths — please take extra care and reduce your speed. Source NZTA.
